Douglas Stone and his family

Standing from left to right : Mrs C. Lal (Asha's mother-in-law), in the center is Rajender Lal (Asha's husband) next to him is Asha Lal (my elder sister)
Again, not much information is available about Riasal Singh. Riasal Singh had 3 sons and 3 daughters. He had two wives.
Of his first wife he had the following children :
George Stone
Clement Stone
Vinnie (daughter)
Violet (daughter)
Of his second wife Victoria he had :
Douglas Stone
Moon (daughter)
George Stone was a driver in the Indian Railway, this is what I have been told. If I recollect it right he also spent some time in a seminary, although he was not able to complete his theological studies. He is also known for his affinity towards music. He was equally good in Vocals and instruments, he played Tabla and Harmonium well. Also I wish to mention here. that K. L. Sehgal, the legendary figure of the glorious days of Indian cinema, was a bossom friend of George Stone. George Stone made Ambala his home.
Clement Stone was a motor mechanic and made Old Delhi his home. He lived at Chatta Moomgram, near Turkman Gate. When ever we (me and Nani) went to Delhi to visit Edwin nana, we always made it a point to visit Clement nana (I called him Chottey nana, perhaps that was his nick name). I am forgetting his wife (my nani's name) He was always very hospitable, the 'koftas' I ate at their place was one of the finest in terms of aroma and taste ! Clement Stone had a son (again forgetting names) and two daughters. The son as per the last available information has migrated to Middle East. I also know that one of his daughter died very young. I have no information about the family now, I am so sorry I lost the contact.
About his three daughters I have no information.

ReplyDelete"Vijay sahib ... Regarding Dada and your Nana R.S.Stone I wish to tell you that he was in Railways at the time of British Rule and worked as Chief Security Officer. He was found of music, and used to play tabla, while Mr. K.L.Sehgal used sing. Mr. George Stone was his eldiest son, who also worked in railways as a firemen and later on was shifted to stores due to his sickness. He married Florence in Ambala and had three children namely Manju ( now Mrs. Manju Sharpe, my wife) then Henry his son, then Lilly his daughter, Baby an other daughter and thereafter son vijay Stone. Mrs. Stone (wife) Lilly and Baby expired long back. Now both the brothers are in Delhi Manju my wife is with me. So kindly update your blog accordingly.

Victoria Dadi, was settled in Kalka,and expired long back, her daughter Moon also expired due to illness, her husband Mr.A. Faruqi and two sons, Munna and Honey are in Kalka and still remembers all the relatives time and again. One of Moon Phupi's sister is in Pakistan, I forgot her name, But she too remembers all of us.
ReplyDeleteRisal Singh Stone was married twice 1st wife don't know her name, had 2 sons and 2 daughters. George, Clement, Vinnie and Violet from 1st wife. let me add Clement wife's name is Shanti lives in Old Delhi, their son's name Billu and 2 daughters name are Guriya and Rano, don't know their given names. Vinnie was married to Henry Geoge (both deceased).Vinnie phupi had 3 sons and 1 daughter, Jagdish, Patrick, Smart and Shobha. Jagdish lives in Canada, he is very sick totally confined to bed for a long time, his wife is very sweet lady name Mary. Patrick and Shobha living in Baltimore, Maryland. Smart his wife name Beulah lives in Buffalo,New York. R S Stone's second daughter's name is Violet, lives in Pakistan.
ReplyDeleteR S Stone's 2nd wife Victoria had son Douglas and daughter Moon. We know already about Moon and her family. Douglas Stone born June 11,1933, married twice 1st wife name Victoria Elisha, she died on September 30,2003. Douglas Stone has 5 daughters and 1 son, Veronica married to Donavon Norislue he is from Jamaica. Patricia married to Atter, Arlene married to Michael Massey, Marlene married to Robert Burbank, Rebecca married to Earl Edwards and son Raja, he is a pastor. Douglas Stone migrated to Waterloo, Canada in 1974. One of his son-in-law Veronica's husband is very sick totally confined to bed since 1985. Douglas Stone 2nd wife name is Roseline married in 2005.
